Sgt. Donald Cripps holds degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. He is a Missouri POST Certified Instructor. Sgt. Cripps has been in law enforcement since 1974, as a Texas State Trooper, a Texas DPS Criminal Intelligence Agent, and a municipal police officer in both Texas and Missouri. At Lee’s Summit Police Department he has served as a DARE Officer, Field Training Officer, the Community Interaction Officer and is currently assigned as a supervisor on midnight shift in Patrol Division. In 1999 Sgt. Cripps was one of the original two Lee’s Summit officers sent to Memphis, Tennessee, for Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and he then helped establish the program in the Lee’s Summit and Kansas City Metro area. He serves as the LSPD CIT Coordinator and has instructed classes in Crisis Intervention at the Metropolitan Community College and the Western Missouri Regional Police Academy. He is a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute and holds a Level III certification in Homeland Security from ACFEI. He belongs to the American Society of Industrial Security, The International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and is Board Certified in Emergency Crisis Response.
