Friday Course Descriptions
Victim Services in a County Prosecutor's Office Speaker(s): Sister Mary Lex Smith, SCL, BA, MPS, MS Time: Friday, July 13, 2007 at 9am Length: 90 minutes This presentation will include an introduction to the services offered in a prosecution-based victim/witness program. We will explore statutory and constitutional mandates which govern our work based on Kansas laws and investigate how this might fit into other jurisdictions. A brief outline of the Criminal Justice System will help in understanding how the services fit in. We will also explore referrals and agencies available as well as networking possibilities. Audience participation will be elicited as we discuss the ways in which various other disciplines and professions impact one another in the Criminal Justice System. When participants leave they will have an understanding of what is offered to victims of crime, how the Criminal Justice System “works” and how other entities can interact with the CJS. - - BACK TO FRIDAY'S CLASS LISTINGS- --
