Upon graduation, he entered the Washburn School of Law, graduating in 1980. Following his instinct to protect and serve the people of Kansas, in 1980, Paul Morrison immediately went to work as an Assistant District Attorney for Johnson County. Beyond the DA's office, Paul Morrison has left an indelible mark on the laws that keep all Kansans safer and more secure, working with the Kansas legislature to help author the state's first laws against sexual predators, and Kansas' death penalty statute. He has also argued dozens of cases before the Kansas Supreme Court. Admired by his peers in the law enforcement and legal communities, Morrison is a recipient of the Clarence M. Kelly Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice Administration, and in 2001 was named "Prosecutor of the Year" by the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association. The Johnson County Sun called Paul "A Criminal's Worst Nightmare". Active in both the legal profession and his local community, Morrison has served as President of the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association; President of the Johnson County Bar Foundation; President and a member of the board of Sunflower House and SafeHome, Inc.; and Chairman of the Johnson County United Way's fund-raising effort in 2004. Known as a staunch advocate for the rights of crime victims, Morrison is an original member of the Kansas Sentencing Commission, and currently serves as its Vice Chair.
